Ken and Terri got into kiting after stopping by WindWizards and
purchasing a couple of 6 ft. deltas for a romantic afternoon picnic of
kiteflying, wine & cheese. While they were sitting back enjoying the day,
they heard a roaring noise coming from over the hill. Ken, being the
inquisitive type, went to investigate. He found someone flying a dual
line sport kite and had to chat. The next thing he knew the flying lines
were thrust into his hands and he was hooked. Terri had no choice but to
go along for the ride. By the end of that summer, they had accumulated 4
dual lines and a Rev. Ken has since graduated to a power quad.
We considered joining the club a few times, but could never make the
events. Then during the Fall picnic of 2001, Ken was driving home, saw
the kites & kidnapped Terri for an afternoon of flying at Longview Lake
(which is right by our house). We joined that afternoon, and have been to
several events since. Now, Ken and Terri have jumped into the Club head
first and have taken over the website responsibilities.
In the "real world" Terri is a Graphic Designer and Web Developer. She
also teaches Computer and Web classes at Penn Valley and Longview
Community Colleges. Ken drives a ready-mix truck out in Lee's Summit and
loves to play on the computer. They have recently adopted their first
child, Craig, and have a foster daughter Adriana whom they are also trying
to adopt. They have 2 cats and a beagle (Terri takes Craig & the dog to
work every day).
