KCKC History & Archives

We are in the process of re-compiling all past minutes and club history events.

If you would like to submit your kiting or club news for posting, please email webmaster@kckiteclub.org .   THANKS!!!

THE KANSAS CITY KITE CLUB is an active club that encourages participative involvement in kiting activities. The KCKC primarily focuses on getting people together to fly kites giving them a feeling of camaraderie and a chance for friendly competition.

The KCKC was organized in the summer of 1991 by Carolyn & Chris Moore, Wind Wizards kite storeowners. We were officially AKA sanctioned on October 24, 1991. We supported and nurtured the club and its members by organizing fun flys, festivals, competitions, discounts to members, and continuous promotions.

KCKC founder, Chris Moore states, "Because of new technology, there is more excitement and interest in the hobby, art, sport, craft, science, and technology of kite flying than ever before! As participants become more exposed to kiting their hunger is more easily satisfied when there is an established group in place to encourage participative involvement in kiting activities. Planning, organizing, and maintaining the progress of a successful kite club requires the support of its members."

Carolyn and Don Moore, along with their son Chris, continued to lead the KCKC from their retail stores until early 2000.  At that time the Moore’s consolidated their retail stores into their Gardner home, and Chris accepted a position as Kite board Instructor at Kitty Hawk Kites in North Carolina.

A special meeting of the Kansas City Kite Club was held on February 26, 2000 at Winslow’s BBQ restaurant at 8:00 PM.   New officers were elected at this meeting, and the following minutes have been assembled by year.
