1510 Penrose St, Grinnell, IA, USA Kites Over Grinnell is a no admission, one day Fun-Fly Kite Festival that has drawn kite fliers and spectators from over 10 states as well as over 50 cities across Iowa. Over 3000 spectators arrived with their own kites or purchased kites from Chicago Kite/Kite Harbor on site & joined the open flying fields. 19 acres are set aside for the event with roped off areas for performances.
Educational components occur within the local schools prior to the festival & a free kids-kite-making workshop is offered at the event. Other special features include a community waffle breakfast, a Kite Parade to the flying fields, mass ascension, indoor kite flying, kids’ games, raffles & prizes, & a lighted night flight.  Food & kite vending are available on the grounds.

Abilene Kansas

Family Day

Kite Festival

Saturday May 31st

11am-4pm

If you are curious about how we ended up with a kite festival in Abilene the story behind this festival is…

Stephany Rosenholtz’ family reunion is in Abilene, KS.  Last year Sean flew his trilobite in the parking lot of the church.  The kids and adults were thrilled with the free entertainment and fell in love with Sean and his kites, ground displays, and pole ribbons.  They begged him to bring his club and do a festival for their city.  So Saturday May 31st we are!

Abilene Kansas Family Day Kite Festival

Saturday May 31st

11am-4pm

Location: "Ponderrosa" -  2222 Fair Road, Abilene, Ks. It is a lane that goes east between two houses facing Fair road.  You drive back in there, and it's all open pasture (without livestock).  The most eastern and southeastern part is wooded with a picnic/shelter area we can use.  To the north along the lane is all open ground.  Power lines are out by the road.  There is no electricity at this location.

Lodging:  They will be putting people up in their homes, with breakfast served--not in bed sorry!  :-)  We will need a head count as soon as possible.

Sponsored by:  Prayer and Children's Outreach

Their Goal:  Goal is to reach more by touching their lives with a special, fun and exciting event.  It'll be an event for adult/child prayer partners, VBS kids, SS, S.O.S. kids, and kids of all ages.

Prayer and Children’s Outreach will be planning to have food, and drink, with the KCKC providing the sound system, announcements, candy drops, ground display and kites.

The swimming pool and tourist things will all be open by then.  Mark Liby drives the trolley around town and gives an 'enlightened' narrative.  There's about 3 days of tourist stuff to do in Abilene Kansas.  They do have the best family fried chicken place in the world!

 Abilene Kansas:   2 1/2 drive from K.C. all on I-70 - exit 275
